US stocks turn positive, CHF plummets
FXStreet (Córdoba) - After a negative open, US equities recovered ground and turned positive while European markets finished with mixed results. The FTSE 100 rose marginally 0.01% while the Cac 40 lost 0.03% and the Dax declined 0.11%. In the US, the Dow Jones was at the highs, rising 0.10% while the Nasdaq was up 0.39%.
In the forex, the Swiss franc was among the worst performers, weakened by speculations about negative rates from the SNB; USD/CHF was near 0.9400 while EUR/CHF rose above 1.2100. The Canadian dollar was rising across the board, even against the US dollar.
Gold was falling again and bottomed on New York at $1,243/oz, slightly above June lows. Crude oil was also falling and it was trading down 1% below $92.00 a barrel.
